Formulation of an EAC Policy on Anti-Counterfeiting, Anti-Piracy and other Intellectual Property violations
The East African Community (“EAC”), funded by the Investment Climate Facility for Africa (“ICF”) has commissioned the law firms of Iseme, Kamau & Maema Advocates and Mohammed Muigai Advocates (the “Consortium”) to undertake an EAC-wide study and formulate an EAC Policy on Anti-Counterfeiting, Anti-Piracy and other violations of Intellectual Property Rights.
To assist the Consortium in discharging its mandate, members of the public, manufacturers, artists, publishers, musicians, producers, distributors, consumers and all other interested parties are hereby invited to express their views on the subject of counterfeiting, piracy and other violations of intellectual property rights in East Africa (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi) by making suggestions on the desired content of the proposed EAC Policy which, if adopted by the EAC Partner States, will form the basis of a uniform law against counterfeiting, piracy and other violations of intellectual property rights to apply in all the five (5) EAC Partner States.
Interested parties should access and complete the Questionnaire available at www.ikm.co.ke or www.mohammedmuigai.com and return it to the Consortium either in soft or hard copy at one of the following addresses:-
